General Rules for #tv-hub 

  • Enjoy the channel, and do nothing to prevent others from also enjoying the channel. No offensive language or racist remarks..
  • The channel language is English.
  • The use of !list to display a list of server ads, and @find FILENAME to search and locate specific files, is encouraged.
  • Always read the channel topic. It is displayed on entry into the channel, or can be checked by typing /topic #tv-hub.
  • DO NOT use  xdcc list or !xdcc list on the xdcc bots. Use /msg <botnick> xdcc send list or use the packlist here instead..
  • DO NOT ask when an episode will be out. Check the topic or check http://www.tvrage.com/schedule.php for air times.

  • DO NOT beg for sends or resumes or offer trades in the channel.
  • DO NOT use clones. Servers and Ops excepted.
  • DO NOT flood servers or bots with @find, wait at least 1 minute before you use the command again.
  • DO NOT use timers on servers/bots also DO NOT keep requesting the same file from a server/bot that you can not meet minimum speed requirements on.
  • DO NOT paste a fake fserve ad  in order to get voiced. If you are caught doing so,  YOU WILL BE BANNED.
  • DO NOT spam, whether with web URLs or channel names, in the channel or in private messages.
  • DO NOT use Bottler, IRC-ORK, SPR or SD or similar scripts.
  • DO NOT PM ops with nonsense like "you there?" or begging for eps. If you have a question,  ask openly in the channel, if you get no reply, then procede to  OPS.
  • If you were banned and want back in, message the op who banned you and settle it with them.

Rules that apply to servers:

  • You do NOT need permission to run a server, however running a NON-FUNCTIONAL server will result in a KICK/BAN
  • Serve TV shows. Do not serve games, music, movies, porn, or warez.  The enforcement of this rule will be based on complaints.
  • Set your fserv ad timers to 120 minutes, and use /ctcp triggers only.
  • All servers must display sent data in their ads, used for verifying amounts served.
  • A good selection of many tv shows, while not required, will make your fserv more appealing to people.

Message from the #tv-hub channel founder --- (My philosophy)

This channel has been a 'hobby' of mine for over 5 years now. Six months before i started this channel I had never even heard of IRC. I learned all I now know about IRC by watching, listening, reading, and trying. I also asked questions to those more experienced than myself, but only after having exhausted my normal means of learning, so that for the most part when I asked a question, it was an intelligent question.

I was going to write somewhat negative comments about what annoys me, but decided instead to say, I respect. admire and applaud the users who quietly figure out how to do things on their own, using the resources I have tried to provide, for even the IRC challenged. I also am always open to constructive criticism about those resources I try to provide. Suffice it to say, I would respond much more favorably to the person who says "I think the packlist would be better if it......" than to the person who says "Hey, how do you download an XDCC pack?"
